Globe Telecom, a major telecommunications company in the Philippines, participated in the Mobile World Congress (MWC) Barcelona 2025 to discuss its strategies against fraud and efforts to enhance customer experience. Anton Bonifacio, Globe's Chief Information Security Officer and Chief AI Officer, highlighted the company's proactive measures to counter evolving scam tactics.
"At Globe, we are relentless in our fight against fraud and cyber threats, leveraging a multi-layered approach that combines technology, intelligence sharing, and proactive security measures. With AI-driven solutions complementing our defenses, we remain committed to building a safer digital ecosystem for our customers," said Bonifacio.
Globe was the first telecom operator globally to block all person-to-person SMS containing clickable links as of September 2022. This measure was implemented amid rising scams targeting mobile users. The company has also established data-sharing agreements with banks and financial institutions to improve fraud detection and prevention.
Rebecca Eclipse, Globe's Chief Transformation and Operations Officer, discussed the company's operational transformation aimed at providing superior customer service. "We cannot adopt a single, one-size-fits-all strategy nationwide. It is imperative to know our customers and the landscape in each territory to provide them the right experience," said Eclipse.
Eclipse noted that Globe's new agile approach has led to faster site deployment and better network coverage in pilot areas. This shift has increased customer trust and revenue while demonstrating Globe's commitment to innovation.
