Aboitiz Equity Ventures, Inc. issued the following announcement on Nov. 12.
The Aboitiz Group continued to provide relief to those greatly affected by the recent 6.5 magnitude earthquake that hit Mindanao last October 31. The Aboitiz Group has so far donated about 39,500 relief packs and water to thousands of affected families.
The group’s Davao-based business units (BUs) namely Cotabato Light and Power Company and Davao Light and Power Company donated relief packs which included rice, canned goods, and noodles, among others. They were turned over to the local government officials of Tulunan and Makilala in North Cotabato. BU team members volunteered to pack relief goods with the help of various personnel from the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine National Police, and the local government units in North Cotabato.
Meantime, AboitizPower’s subsidiaries which include Hedcor, Therma South, Inc. (TSI) and Aboitiz Group’s food subsidiary Pilmico provided mosquito nets, mats, and blankets.
Bulk water supply BU Apo Agua, for its part, distributed a total of 1.7 million liters of water in Kidapawan City and the Municipality of Makilala. The 27 affected barangays in Kidapawan City rely heavily on the water tankers provided by Apo Agua and the Aboitiz Foundation. The Metro Kidapawan Water District provides the water that fills up the water tankers at a much faster rate.
The Aboitiz Foundation immediately set up a donation page to help the affected families through its online donations platform KINDer.aboitiz.com.
To date, the Mindanao Earthquake Call for Donations page by KINDer was able to gather more than PhP335,320 from 191 individual donors. For those who may wish to donate, you may visit the KINDer website at KINDer.aboitiz.com.
