Event Details

In the early 20th century, polio has become epidemic and one of the most feared diseases we had. It left families paralyzed and terrified of its effects. It was practically eliminated when we discovered the vaccines for polio. However, the epidemic continued in our modern world but with much worse added scenario—parents skipping vaccination for their children. The public’s loss of trust to vaccines due to the dengvaxia issue is now posing an alarming challenge.

With the outbreak of polio in the Philippines, immunization is very important and has become more essential for public to regain their trust to polio vaccines. To address this, AmCham is organizing a forum on “Immunization in the Philippines: Expand coverage of mandatory basic immunization program”, with Dr. Lulu Bravo representing the Philippine Foundation for Vaccination and Congresswoman Angelina Tan to discuss House Bill 9068, a bill expanding vaccines-preventable diseases.
