Aboitiz Equity Ventures, Inc. issued the following announcement on Dec. 10.

More than 7,000 Filipinos or nearly 1,500 families affected by Typhoon Ulysses in Cagayan and Isabela will soon receive the much needed relief assistance, following a half a million peso donation from insurance firm Philinsure to the Aboitiz Foundation to support its ongoing relief operations.

The Aboitiz Group’s corporate social responsibility arm received the P500,000 donation in an online turnover ceremony last December 4.

Philinsure President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Gordon Alan “Dondi” Joseph emphasized the value of trust in partnerships and thanked the Aboitiz Foundation for agreeing to work with them.

“We couldn’t think of anyone else to trust. We know you guys and we trust you. Thank you for this opportunity,” Joseph said.

Philinsure is one of the most reputable, fast-growing and well-managed insurance brokers in the Philippines. They are the only insurance brokerage with a major national presence, serving clients in the country’s three largest cities 一 Manila, Cebu and Davao.

“Daghang salamat, Dondi and everyone at Philinsure for your support. We are truly honored to have your trust and confidence. Rest assured, Aboitiz Foundation will continue to reach out and deliver immediate response to our fellow Filipinos in areas severely affected by the recent typhoons,” said Sabin M. Aboitiz, Aboitiz Group President and CEO and Aboitiz Foundation Chairman.

Aboitiz Foundation President and COO Maribeth L. Marasigan assured its partner that the donated funds will reach its target recipients. “We were particularly happy when we received the email of support from Dondi Joseph and his team in Philinsure. Your donation will surely help us in our ongoing relief and rebuilding efforts in the hardest hit areas of Bicol and the Cagayan Valley region,” she noted.

As of December 4, 2020, the Aboitiz group already extended a total of Php 6.4 million for the Typhoon Ulysses relief operations, giving out food packs, sleeping kits, water and medicines to around 70,400 individuals in the hardest-hit areas of Rizal, Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya and Ifugao.

The Foundation is also actively helping victims of Typhoon Rolly in Albay, Batangas, Catanduanes, Camarines Sur and Oriental Mindoro. The group has raised over Php 5.7 million and distributed food packs, construction materials, medicines and blankets to over 9,000 families or close to 47,000 individuals. Visayan Electric, AboitizPower’s distribution unit based in Cebu, also dispatched a team to help restore power in four barangays in Tiwi, Albay.
